AttaBox Enclosures for Remote Monitoring

AttaBox Polycarbonate Enclosures Provide Reliable Protection and Proven Solutions for Remote Monitoring Applications

AttaBox, manufacturers of top quality non-metallic electrical and industrial enclosures, provides solutions for remote monitoring technology in diverse industrial, wireless, and data collection applications.

Craig Mitchell, President of Robroy Enclosures, explains:

“A significant portion of the United States is rural or challenging to access. It is important to have technology that enables the collection of data from, or communications with, consumers and businesses in areas where it is difficult or costly to service with in-person contact. Remote monitoring technology can interface with systems from a great distance to meet the needs of utilities, alternative energy, gas and oil operations, agricultural, and many other essential applications. Due to the challenging access, it is critical that remote monitoring technology is reliably protected from environmental and human damage. That’s where AttaBox® non-metallic enclosures provide a solution for the challenges of remote monitoring. ”

There are numerous reasons why AttaBox® polycarbonate enclosures, such as the Heartland® Series, are an ideal choice for remote monitoring applications:

Compatibility With Wireless Technology

AttaBox® polycarbonate enclosures are excellent for protecting wireless technology because they allow wireless and radio frequency signals to pass unobstructed through the enclosure. This allows the effective use of antennas inside of the enclosure. Additionally, there is the option to block EMI/RFI frequencies if needed, providing more flexibility than available from metal enclosures.

AttaBox® polycarbonate enclosures are made specifically for rugged applications requiring enclosure strength. Because polycarbonate provides high-impact resistance and dimensional stability, AttaBox® enclosures are reliable in remote monitoring applications within continuously demanding environments.

Impact Resistance

Although lighter weight than other materials, polycarbonate can withstand impacts up to 900psi, as specified by UL 746c. Upon impact, metal enclosures are vulnerable to denting which, along with aesthetic concerns can compromise the integrity of the seal that protects everything housed within the enclosure.

Corrosion and Chemical Resistance

NEMA type 4X AttaBox® polycarbonate enclosures provide proven resistance to corrosive environments where acids or alkalines are present. Because of excellent corrosion resistance, polycarbonate meets the remote monitoring demands of diverse industries in wide-ranging environments.

Ease of Installation and Modification

Polycarbonate, compared with metal enclosures is lightweight, making it easier and quicker to install; thereby being of value in overall cost reduction. AttaBox enclosures are also easy to modify, either at the manufacturer and delivered ready to use — or in the field using standard tools for cutting holes, windows, vents, and drains. Polycarbonate cuts cleanly without dust and resists delamination.

UV Resistance

Because of natural resistance to UV degradation, polycarbonate enclosures can weather the passage of time even in harsh exterior applications. AttaBox polycarbonate enclosures carry an f1 rating for outdoor use per UL 746c.

The value of any enclosure is measured by its ability to protect what that enclosure houses. AttaBox® polycarbonate enclosures are so robust that they typically will outlive the service life of whatever is put inside them.
